For hedge fund leaders like Corey Ribotsky, the Fudiciary Management Summit 2012 is the perfect opportunity. The Onyx and Breezy Foundation – supported by Corey Ribotsky – had a very productive year in 2011. Throughout the country, it has helped a large amount of various individuals and organizations with pets in needs, while also providing assistance to no-kill shelters and rescues. In addition, we provided funds for emergency surgeries along with food and medicine for animals from homes on low-incomes.

The foundation has also been spaying and neutering animals – supporting and encouraging this action. There are over 3 million dogs and cats euthanized in shelters throughout the nation every year and the Onyx and Breezy Foundation is committed to ending this. The foundation also took this opportunity – at the end of 2011 – to thank all its supporters for their kind donations. During the year there were many events that were attended by many supporters which raised lots of money such as the 7^th Annual Black Tie Gala and early this year sales will begin for the 5^th annual raffle. In March, the foundation’s 3^rd Annual Island Gala will take place.

Hedge fund managers like Corey Ribotsky may want to take note of a new strategy that some, like Richard Hurowitz, are employing. Hurowitz has been running a $1 billion hedge fund and he has recently moved into shareholder activism, taking on both the boards of a Canadian and a German company.

As Hurowitz explained, “Shareholders in this financial environment are not going to be tolerant of boards that do not protect their interests.”

In an interesting new approach, Asian hedge funds that are starved for capital are starting to allow clients more control over their investments. These managed accounts are creating a lifeline for funds in the area, who would otherwise be too small to get institutions who are large investors in the industry.

As it might be of interest to hedge fund leaders like Corey Ribotsky, the hedge funds might charge less than the 2% management fee and 20% performance fee that is usually taken from clients.

As Gautam Prakash, founder of U.S.-based hedge fund Monsoon Capital said, “As a manager trying to grow a new strategy, you do whatever it takes to get capital.”

The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society has been working for many years in the capacity of providing funds for blood cancer research as well as information and patient services. In what it does and the services it provides, it is globally the largest organization and is featured in the Survivorship Support Network. Businessman Corey Ribotsky, is a volunteer at the LLS.

Last week, over the Thanksgiving Day holiday celebration, Dorothy Hamil and Scott Hamilton got together to host the third annual Kaleidoscope FOX TV event, producing a spectacular combination of skating (Hamil and Hamilton are top skaters) music and, as recorded by the LLS report, “the brave message of survivorship to raise awareness of the key issues surrounding cancer.”

At the show, for the first time ever, various top figure skaters and Grammy Award winning musicians will be joining together. From Sinead and John Kerr to Patti LaBelle, Hunter Hayes to Kurt Browning and many more, it really was a show not to be missed that also had such a good cause and was thus so appropriately screened on Thanksgiving Day.

It’s never too early to support a Sunrise Day Camp charity event. Gene Connor is training to undertake his most ambitious fundraising event next summer from Saturday, June 23 through Sunday August 26. As a drama and dance specialist at Sunrise Day Camp, where people like Corey Ribotsky are generous sponsors, Connor will cycle 3600 miles across America.

Connor’s goal with this project is two fold. He wants to spread the word about Sunrise Day Camp and also help them to raise money to support their year-round programs. His cycle program will start in San Diego on June 23^rd and end up on the grounds of Sunrise Day Camp around August 26^th. His fundraising goal is $50,000.

LLS SCOR Program Awards Grants

Donors and fundraisers to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) like Corey Ribotsky understand that the more they give and raise, the more research can be done to cure cancers. Recently, two new Marshall A. Lichtman Specialized Center of Research (SCOR) grants were awarded. The SCOR program is LLS’s largest academic research grant. Since it began in 2000, it has had more than $235.

The newest recipients are Frederick W. Alt, Ph.D., Harvard Medical School, and Anthony Green, M.D., Ph.D., University of Cambridge. Each of these grants is valued at $1.25 million a year for five years.
