Light the Night Walk and Retail Partners
As part of the Light The Night Walk campaign put on around the country by LLS every year, they offer retail organizations the chance to partner with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Retailers across North America are invited to has customers purchase a paper balloon for the cost of a $1 donation to LLS. Retail partners then display the balloons in their shops, encouraging more people to donate and raising awareness about blood cancers and about the work that LLS does.
In 2010, for instance, the Burlington Coat Factory became the first Light The Night Walk National Paper Balloon Partner. They raised more than $2.5 million just in that one year for the Light The Night Walk. Since they joined the Light the Night Walk in 2003, they have raised a total of $9.4 million for LLS!
This is one example of how organizations and individuals like Corey Ribotsky can help to raise funds for LLS and to encourage others to learn more about the important work done by the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
Last year, the Onyx and Breezy foundation provided funds for 13 dogs to be transported from Louisiana to the Newark area before the Hurricane season, in order to open more space in the Louisiana shelters. Families in Louisiana often leave their pets in these shelters during evacuations, and then do not return to take them back. The shelters become very crowded during these seasons, and are very hard-pressed to care for the sudden rush of dogs. Euthanasia is often the only option. Shelter volunteers hoped the dogs would be adopted once they were transferred to New York and New Jersey.
Here is one example of a child benefiting from the music therapy offered through The Heather on Earth Music Foundation. This 501© non-profit organization provides funding for music therapy programs in children’s hospitals. Their goal is to bring the healing power of music to children who are sick. Certainly, they benefit from the generosity of their many supporters, including Corey Ribotsky of the NIR Group.
