Schonfeld Foundation recently donated $500,000 to the Children’s Medical Fund of New York for important renovations to the Hematology/Oncology Unit at Schneider Children’s Hospital.  The gift was made in honor of Steven’s mother, Sue Schonfeld and a permanent donor plaque will be placed in the new unit.

The Golf & Tennis Charity was a great success, with over $1 million raised this year, as has been raised each year in the past, for the Children’s Medical Fund where Corey Ribotsky is the president.

Possible Directions for Today’s Recession

recessionPeople are talking a lot about the recession these days and whether or not it is likely that there will be a double dip in the recession.  There are schools of both camps:  both have rather convincing arguments to support their cases.

LLS New Fundraising Idea

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is constantly creating ingenious fundraising ideas.  Their most recent project is the Light The Night Walk and their offer of relief at the pump this summer with it.  As a fundraiser for the Light the Night Walk, you can early $50 worth of free gas for every $500 that you raise during July and August.  If you raise $250 online, you’ll earn a $15 gas card while supplies last.

As the chief marketing and revenue officer for LLS explains, “Light The Night Walk, LLS’s annual evening fundraising walk, is the nation’s opportunity to pay tribute and commemorate lives touched by blood cancer. The goal of finding cures is already a great motivator, and LLS’s ‘Save at the Pump’ promotion is just an extra way to thank participants for bringing hope to patients battling cancer.”

Along with their generous support from so many donors, including Corey Ribotsky of the NIR Group, these fundraisers really make a difference in the fight against cancer.

Philosophy of Mutual Fund Managers

Here’s an interesting look at mutual fund managers and their philosophies.  Certainly, a mutual fund manager has to have a specific philosophy and, as a fund manager, one has to consider his long term plan and his basic overall philosophy.

LLS Teamed with The John Theurer Cancer Center for Program

In recent news for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, where Corey Ribotsky is a supporter, the Society recently partnered with The John Theurer Cancer Center to host a panel discussion with leading blood cancer experts.  The two hosted Partners in Progress, an expert panel discussion on advancing therapies for blood cancers.  The program, which took place on Tuesday, June 22 in Hackensack, NJ was free and open to patients, caregivers and healthcare providers.

It featured leading leukemia experts, clinical trial participants and MDS survivors.  The program was supported by an educational grant from Genentech/Biogen Idec and an educational donation from Amgen.
