Heather on Earth Foundation’s Beginnings

So many children have benefited from the amazing work of the Heather on Earth Music Foundation.  Supporters like Corey Ribotsky allow the Foundation to continue to do its incredible work.  While looking to support a location such as this, it’s important to know its origins and the people behind the dream.

After Geri Fessle lost her daughter, Heather Samone Fessler, in September of 1985, she searched for a way to memorialize her daughter.  In 1992, she joined the Children’s Medical Fund of New York, where Corey Ribotsky is the President, hoping to make a difference in the lives of children. She led her own community for six years and became President of the Women’s Division on Long Island for over three years.

Starting her own nonprofit to bring the power of music to children, Geri has received numerous awards for her work.  She has worked closely with other organizations, including the Board of Ascent, Pal-o Mine, the Songs of Love Foundation and others.

Many fine companies and groups, such as Corey Ribotsky and the NIR Group, help to support the amazing work of the Heather on Earth Music Foundation.  One of their major supporters is Generation YM.  They explain their company as being on the cutting edge of reinventing the marketplace with new products. They are a firm of young minds who are dedicated to making it easy to learn and leverage technology in our 21st Century technology-based economy.

Through their support of the Heather on Earth Music Foundation, they help the non-profit organization to provide funding for music therapy programs in children’s hospitals throughout America and abroad.

Making Music with the Winthrop-University Hospital

In recent news, the Heather on Earth Music Foundation has just awarded a $34,000 grant to the Winthrop-University Hospital to create a Music Therapy Program.  The new program will be for pediatric patients and will help to ease their anxieties while in the hospital.

This program, and the many others that the Heather on Earth Music Foundation does is made possible from the generous contributions that they receive from individuals like Corey Ribotsky and like many organized groups.

The new program will be part of the already existing Winthrop Child Life Program which helps to minimize children’s anxiety and fear during their hospital experiences.
