Bicycling for Charity

It’s never too early to support a Sunrise Day Camp charity event. Gene Connor is training to undertake his most ambitious fundraising event next summer from Saturday, June 23 through Sunday August 26. As a drama and dance specialist at Sunrise Day Camp, where people like Corey Ribotsky are generous sponsors, Connor will cycle 3600 miles across America.

Connor’s goal with this project is two fold. He wants to spread the word about Sunrise Day Camp and also help them to raise money to support their year-round programs. His cycle program will start in San Diego on June 23^rd and end up on the grounds of Sunrise Day Camp around August 26^th. His fundraising goal is $50,000.

Sunrise Day Camp, the only dedicated camp for kids with cancer, isn’t only a summer experience. With its name, many people might think that they only arrange for summer experiences for cancer survivors. Instead, Sunrise Day Camp, with generous sponsors like the NIR Group and Corey Ribotsky, has many programs throughout the year.

They have one program called the Sunrise Sundays program. One Sunday each month, the Sunrise Day Camp campers come together for sports, crafts, special guests, snacks, swimming and more. These events are held at the Henry Kaufmann Campgrounds between Nassau & Suffolk Counties and at the Friedberg JCC in Oceanside. It is a wonderful opportunity for the kids to see their friends from the summer, to get away for a bit and to enjoy a fun time.

Sunrise Day Camp also has school vacation programs, enabling children to get together during their holidays and to have fun during their trying times.

The NIR Group, where Corey Ribotsky is the Managing Partner, takes an active leadership role in several charitable foundations. One of these is Sunrise Day Camp, the only camp in the country which is solely dedicated to bringing the joyous day camp experience to children with cancer.

Sunrise Day Camp is housed on the 300 acres of the Henry Kaufmann Campgrounds, a beautiful, wooded location perfect for children to enjoy themselves while undergoing the challenges associated with dealing with cancer. Sunrise is free for children ages 3-16 who suffer from cancer or any of its related illnesses, with no regard to religious affiliation or denomination.

While some people have heard of Sunrise Day Camp, which provides camping opportunities for kids with cancer, less people are familiar with the amazing Sunrise on Wheels program. This year-round outreach program is for children and their families in Outpatient Clinics.

Volunteers from Sunrise on Wheels come to the waiting room or playroom of the Pediatric Hematology or Oncology Clinic at Schneider Children’s Hospital with their rainbow tie-dye trunk. Twice a week the volunteers bring toys, games, puzzles and projects to delight and entertain the children who are waiting for test results, doctor’s visits and so much more.

They provide these children and their families with card games, stickers, coloring books, crafts, and even internet-ready laptops, helping families in need to make it through a difficult experience. This is one of the many programs that is made possible by the contributions of people like Corey Ribotsky and so many others.

In addition to their amazing summer programs, Sunrise Day Camp also has a number of special year-round programs. These programs, open to campers of Sunrise Day Camp between the ages of 31/2 to 16, allow the campers to reconnect during the year and to continue feeling the support from Sunrise Day Camp.

One Sunday every month, they have a program called Sunrise Sundays. Held at the Henry Kaufmann Campgrounds, at the Friedberg JCC in Oceanside, and at other locations, Sunrise Sundays welcomes campers to come and reconnect. Activities include swimming, crafts, sports and more.

In addition, they offer School Vacation Programs throughout the year which include mid-year, multi-day reunions with camp friends.

All of these programs are possible because of the contributions from donors and the dedication of people like Corey Ribotsky.

Next month, on March 18th, Corey Ribotsky is getting honored with his wife, Stacey, by the Sunrise Day Camp. They will receive the Sunrise Community Partner Award for their many contributions and hard work on behalf of the camp.

This event will include a cocktail party and auction to raise money for the Sunrise Day Camp. It will take place at the Glen Head Country Club in Glen Head, New York. The evening will include an open bar, great music and a lovely dinner.

Sunrise Day Camp is the only camp in America that is exclusively dedicated to children with cancer and their siblings. It is a safe haven where they can go to unwind and enjoy themselves, and to get away from the pressures of living with cancer. Children between the ages of 3.5 and 16 are able to enjoy this camp environment free of charge as a result of the fundraising efforts and generous contributions made my so many in the community.

One of many recipients of funding from the NIR Group of Roslyn New York is the Sunrise Day Camp, the only day camp entirely dedicated to servicing children with cancer in the United States.

Located in the 300-acre Henry Kaufman Campgrounds on the border between Nassau and Suffolk Counties on Long Island, New York, the beautiful wooded camp offers the fun and excitement of summer camp while allowing the children to return to the safety and comfort of their own homes in the evenings.

The camp is for children being treated for cancer and related disorders ages 3-16 and charges no tuition or camp fees to the families of these children.

Sunrise Day Camp also offers programing all year long, including a large variety of social and fund-raising events such as the annual “Walk to Help the Sun Rise.”

This is certainly a worthy cause that Corey Ribotsky and the NIR Group are proud to be a part of.
